Lemonade Day Kick Off

The Arcata Economic Development Corporation will host a Lemonade Day Kick-Off with fresh lemonade and refreshments. Guest speakers include Karen Brooks from Decade of Difference, 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn, Mandy Marquez from US Bank, and Debbie Nazarian the National Cities Director from Lemonade Day. 

History

Lemonade Day is an annual event presented by AEDC and Decade of Difference on the first Saturday of each June. It is a nation-wide event, presented locally by AEDC Small Business Lending Center and Decade of Difference, that teaches kids to set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors, provide customer service and give back to their community.

Lemonade Day exists to infuse today’s youth with the spirit of enterprise, teaching the basic business and entrepreneurial skills one-lemonade stand at a time.  Participants will learn to start, own and operate their very own business using a lemonade stand. We encourage the kids to “save a little, spend a little and share a little.” 

The event sees between 50 and 90 stands each year, with an annual gross sales of close to $10,000 each year.
