Home Grown Host Homes Info Session
Do you have a spare bedroom (or other livable space) collecting dust? You can put that room to good use by hosting a youth in need for a short stay!
Did you know that every year about 4,000 youth age out of foster care in California? 65% leave foster care at age 18 with no place to call home. 20% become homeless the day they turn 18!
In order to successfully live independently, young adults need access to resources, guidance, and support from trusted adults. Many youth exiting foster care don’t have these things. Home Grown NEEDS YOUR HELP to support these young adults as they make this transition to adulthood and independent living.
Home Grown works with transition-aged youth (ages 18-24) in Humboldt County, CA who are experiencing housing insecurity to attain stable short-term housing. They use the Host Home model, where caring community members volunteer to open up their homes and their hearts to "host" a youth for 1-12 months.
YOU can help a youth who is down on their luck by becoming a “host” and providing a young adult with housing, stability, and mentorship!
To find out how YOU can make a difference as a "host", register to attend their upcoming virtual host info sessions on Monday, March 21st from 6PM-6:30PM, contact Joann at info@homegrownhosthomes.org for the meeting link.
