Fortuna Farmer's Market
The Fortuna Farmers' Market brings the bounty of local farms to the tables of our customers. Our market has a variety of farms, ranches, nurseries, and prepared food vendors, most of whom are located in the Eel River Valley. All the produce and plants at the Fortuna Farmers’ Market are grown in Humboldt County and are GMO-free.
Market season kicks off in June, and you’ll see plenty of fresh greens, garden starts, landscaping and edible plants at the market. Customers can almost never leave the market without grabbing a basket (or three!) of Bee’s big juicy strawberries or a rack of Kentucky’s Don’s BBQ ribs, fresh out of the smoker. As the summer blossoms, so does the variety of produce. Tables are stacked high with tomatoes and squash, peppers ranging from sweet bells to spicy Scotch Bonnets, and fresh cut herbs and flowers. Peaches, plums, blackberries, and strawberries are in abundance for most of the summer.
Fall brings everyone’s favorite Sarvinski Family Farm corn to the market, as well as pumpkins for decorating and winter squash that you can store for when the market is closed for the season. The Eel River Valley boasts prolific varieties of locally bred and cultivated apples (some come from trees that are 100 years old), so make sure to ask the farmers about what special varieties they have at the market that week.
